Thomas Tallis School – BTEC Programmes
Blended Learning Policy
Aims of this policy are:
- To ensure that blended learning delivery meets the guidelines set by the awarding organisation.
- To ensure that assessment methodology is valid, reliable and does not disadvantage any group or individual learners.
In order to do this, Thomas Tallis will:
- Ensure that teaching/delivery/assessment staff are timetabled to support blended learning when learners are working remotely
- Follow the same timetable as learners normally have, with taught lessons, guidance etc using MS Teams as per the whole school
- Curriculum Leaders/DHT Teaching & Learning to ensure that there is coverage if staff are unable to take their lessons so that learners are not disadvantaged
- If learners are self-isolating/told to remain at home, use is made of MS Teams when the rest of the class is at school so that those learners isolating are not disadvantaged and can participate in the lesson
- Ensure there is a process to manage feedback on assignments, questions are constructively answered, and feedback is provided in a timely manner
- Feedback given on email for individual questions/issues; feedback given on MS Teams using the Remote Learning channel so that the whole class can see the feedback; formal feedback using ARS saved as PDF files and sent via email to track these; assignments submitted on MS Teams using the assignments tab to ensure there is an audit trail of submissions
- Ensure the setting of assignments is undertaken in the face-to-face sessions and that deadlines are clear
- Deadlines also set on Insight and Teams so that there is clarity about what is due and when
- Ensure that when learners submit work measures are taken to ensure the work is authentic and has been completed by the learner
- Learners to attached the standard statement of authenticity with their work; concerns about authenticity to be raised with LIV/CL and follow as much as is possible the standard procedure; encourage use of Office 365 which allows audit tracking of files so that this can be used if there is potential concerns over authenticity
- Maintain and store securely all assessment and internal verification records in accordance with Pearson Centre Agreement.
- Records kept electronically and stored safely. These can be saved in a shared folder online and printed when return/in school
